If you are those investors that are fearful when markets are down, and not sure which stock to pick when the market goes up, the stock indexes are your choice for investing in the stock markets.
No doubt, this has been a tough year for investors. The S&P 500 has fallen -16.69% so far, the biggest drop since 2008 when the index fell -39%. But, in 2009 the S&P 500 ended the year with gains of+23.45%!
From the same data, the S&P 500 ended -0.73% in 2015 and ended 2016 at +9.54%. In 2018 the index ended at -6.24% and the same thing happened, it gained +28.88% in 2019.
The question is, how much gain will the S&P 500 end in 2023.
